Blogging Niche Case Study: Affiliate Marketing

blog case study

I’ve been blogging for a while, and have wanted to start this case study to get some insight on how the process works.

Well, this study has simple goals, but this site… has much bigger ones.

The goals of this study is simply to be able to compare our progress with other people, and with a YMYL niche blog I started and have been working on at the same time.

I’ve made a case study for the YMYL blog, which is in the Finance niche, and we will be able to compare analytics, strategies, revenue, etc…

The goals of this site are MUCH more extensive than that, and you should check out our About Us page to find out more about that.

Basically, we want to change the world and help people with mental illnesses, or trouble succeeding, and give them the opportunity to live better lives.

Progress so far

Both sites I’m comparing were created at the beginning of April 2020.

I wanted to give them time to age a little bit and build up some content on them before really starting to monitor them, since case studies take time to make.

I just signed up for the Amazon Associates affiliate program, so hopefully I can get a little traffic and sell a few items so Amazon doesn’t kick me out of the program.

Traffic

blogging niche traffic

I have had a few people come to the site, but not a whole lot, and not very many organic visitors.

This was expected though, because I only had 3 posts on this domain for most of it’s life.

Revenue

There really hasn’t been any revenue from this site yet, so I will have to keep putting out content and see what happens.

Expenses

So far, I have paid for a domain name ($15.95), Siteground web hosting ($71.40). There hasn’t been any need for anything else so far. Soon, I’ll start buying products and releasing a ton of content, so I’ll probably need writers as well, so I’m just going to enjoy this brief time of having no expenses while I can.

Problems

The only problems we have had is a lack of traffic.

I started this site with 1 REALLY long and thorough article and then increased it to 3, and I wanted to see if you HAD to post a lot of content to start ranking.

So far, it seems like you do, because this site is not ranking at all.

Strategy For Moving Forward

A lot is happening right now, but at the moment I’m just going to optimize my systems and start looking to the future and trying to make big power moves to speed this whole thing up.

I need to start writing a lot of content for the blog, and I need to find good products to promote that will convert well.

I have a ton of ideas there, but we’ll see what happens.
